A 35-liter hiking backpack is one of the most versatile sizes available — large enough for a 2–3 day trip, compact enough for day hikes and travel. But is it the right size for your adventures?
What Fits in a 35L Backpack?
With smart packing, a 35L backpack comfortably holds everything you need for a weekend trip:
- 2–3 changes of clothing
- A laptop or tablet (up to 15.6 inches)
- Snacks, water bottles, and trail food
- A compact rain jacket or light layer
- Toiletries and a small first aid kit
- Hiking essentials: headlamp, map, sunscreen
- Shoes or wet gear in a separate bottom compartment
When 35L Works Best
A 35L pack is ideal for day hikes, weekend camping trips, short travel, and everyday commuting. It fits under most airline overhead bins when not overpacked, though you should always confirm your airline's current carry-on size rules before flying.
